Assistant Accountant

Applications are invited from suitably qualified/experienced individuals for the position of Assistant Accountant.  Some of the key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, annual financial statements, monthly financial reporting, budgets and quarterly budget review statement
  • Assist in all finance functions; payroll, accounts receivable/payable, rates, plant, asset recording receipting and banking.
  • Assist to ensure all returns are submitted within designated timeframes including but not limited to BAS, FBT, annual Grants Commission return, information requirements of internal and external auditors.
  • Assist with the administration of Council’s loan and investment portfolio.
  • Assist with ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and accounting information system

Local Government experience would be advantageous. The position is currently classified as Band 3, Level 1, Grade 8, Salary range of $61,116 - $70,283 per annum. Package includes subsidised rental and work flexibility agreement (equating to an additional 10% of weekly salary). Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience). Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2017.
